Fireworks Safety Tips

6/30/2021 10:25:53 AM

If you are planning Fireworks this Canada Day please remember the following safety tips and rules:

• Only adults (18+) can handle, store and discharge fireworks

• Discharge away from combustible materials like buildings, trees and dry grass

• Keep onlookers a safe distance away, upwind

• Fireworks can be set off on Canada Day (July 1) and the preceding seven (7) days only

Residents are reminded to adhere to the requirements of Noise-Control By-law 49-2021. Please remember to be respectful of your neighbours. Loud noises and sudden bright lights from fireworks can cause distress to people, pets and livestock. Stressed or startled animals may hurt themselves or others attempting to flee the area. If possible, please notify any surrounding neighbours of your fireworks display to give them enough time to prepare for their animals potentially becoming anxious or frightened.
