Message from Councillor Paul Buchner - January 4th, 2021

As one year ends and another begins I sit here composing this blog and look out the window. Watching the snow drifting down transforming the dull and drab into a beautiful wonderland I am reminded of the quote “Hope springs eternal”. Hope for a better year than last, an end to the lockdowns and virus. To be able to meet socially and to see the smiles and laughter so long covered by a mask. And to once again have a job and security in life. I’m sure if we all do our part it will come to pass.
Our Engage and Inform Committee would like to thank all the people that entered our Christmas Lights Contest. We had eighteen contestants and we spent three hours travelling the roads of SWOX judging them. We also passed so many great displays that if all had entered it would have been a three or four night exercise. Hopefully we will have more people joining our upcoming Zoom trivia night on February 11th. Stay tuned for details. Also we are continuing to work with Beachville Museum staff to build a geocache circuit in SWOX area.
I want to commend my fellow councillors and our great staff for the tremendous job they have done over the past year to keep the Township running smoothly day after day. We continued looking for efficiencies and have reviewed capital projects during budget talks to keep any tax increases as low as possible and still provide the services and infrastructure expected by our residents.
Wishing everyone a great year ahead with health, happiness and many opportunities to enjoy the best things in life.
