NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION: Salford Road, Dereham Line and Barrett Street
The Township of South-West Oxford will be reconstructing Salford Road between Plank Line and Culloden Line, Dereham Line from Plank Line to Salford Road and Barrett Street from Dereham Line to the dead end. Anticipated start date is approximately August 27, 2018 with some work commencing earlier due to weather conditions. Construction is expected to continue into November and possibly be completed in the spring of 2019. Some roads may not be repaved until May of 2019.These improvement will involve ditching, drainage improvements, platform widening, and road elevation changes and repaving.
Residents and visitors should take precautions while driving through the construction site.
While this construction is in progress the roadway will be open to local residents only, at times there will be traffic control staff to guide the public through the construction site, but expect delays and some inconvenience to traffic and are unavoidable due to the type of work that is going to take place. All efforts will be made to ensure that disruptions to the local residents are kept to a minimum.
With the cooperation of everyone, the construction work should proceed smoothly resulting in an improved roadway for everyone to use.
Please note that compaction equipment will be used and that there will be some vibration that you may feel in your home.
It is the responsibility of the property owners to remove any owner installed items within the road allowance such as fencing sprinklers, landscaping adornments, lamp posts, etc.
In the spring, of 2019, after construction is completed, the Township will plant new trees on the road allowance where suitable. The planting of trees on Township land is governed by Township By-Law # 12-2018 which can be viewed on the Township website (www.swox.org).
There will be detours and the Works Department encourages the local traffic to use the detour to avoid driving through the construction site.
